Message of congratulations to His Imperial Majesty Emperor Akihito of Japan on national day

Your Imperial Majesty,

Please accept my warmest congratulations, and those of the Lithuanian people, on the occasion of your birthday and Japan's national holiday. I wish Your Imperial Majesty and the Imperial Family continued health and happiness, and I send my best wished for the peace, well-being and prosperity of your country and its people.

For more than two decades now Lithuania and Japan have been successfully developing open and friendly relations along with mutually beneficial projects launched by our people in trade, investment, science, and innovation. I am so pleased to note that the sakura trees presented by Japan blossom each spring in Lithuania and that more and more people from our countries come to discover and explore the cultural landscape of both Lithuania and Japan.

I would also like to take the opportunity to wish you a Happy New Year, hoping strongly that it will be prosperous and fulfilling for the people of Japan. I firmly believe that we will continue building our bilateral relations this coming year in the spirit of even more trust, openness and cooperation.
