Dear Mr. President,

Please accept my cordial congratulations on your birthday anniversary. I wish that you continue with the same unfailing energy and human warmth that are so greatly admired by your fellow colleagues.

We are proud of the strong good-neighborly bond connecting Lithuania and Latvia, the special sisterly relations between the Baltic nations and the almost one-hundred-year long partnership on the path of defending our freedom and independence. This year marked the 25th anniversary of the Baltic Way - a symbol of our friendship and unity. I firmly believe that perfect mutual understanding, sincere people-to-people contacts and the wish to get to know our cultural landscapes even better will continue to be the cornerstone of relations between Lithuania and Latvia - closest partners and allies.

We highly value your personal contribution to strengthening bilateral relations between Lithuania and Latvia and your responsible attitude to dealing with issues of importance not only to our countries and the region, but also to the whole of Europe. I am confident that our nations will continue to stand resolute and united as we overcome common challenges.
