Continuing the Open Spaces events, the Presidential Palace invited the residents and guests of Vilnius to the opening of a new exhibition. Sunday afternoon, the Column Hall of the Presidential Palace was open for everybody wishing to see the exhibition “Lugano Lakefront Art legacy in the Grand Duchy of Lithuania”. President Dalia Grybauskaitė participated in the events opening the third Open Spaces season in the Presidential Palace. The President underlined that the Presidential spaces, opened every year, contribute to building a more open society. On Sunday afternoon, the Courtyard of the Presidential Palace was open to everybody who wished to listen to some music in an architectural heritage setting. The music was played by the Guard of Honor Orchestra of the Lithuanian Armed Forces (leading director – Captain Egidijus Ališauskas). The Guard of Honor Orchestra was formed on 4 September 1991. Its repertoire includes popular orchestral music by Lithuanian and foreign composers, original contemporary music and arrangements of classical music. The Presidential Palace invited children and parents to watch a musical play ‘Raggedy Ann Stories’ performed by the Elves Theatre in the Column Hall on Sunday. The play is meant for young children and is based on a story by Johnny Gruelle which tells about Raggedy Ann, a rag doll whose cotton heart is full of wisdom and candy heart full of kindness and love. Sunday afternoon the Presidential Palace hosted an open concert under the title of "Women Artists" by the public choir "Vilnius", dedicated to women's creation. The choir performed works of prominent Lithuanian and foreign women composers. Sunday afternoon, the Šiauliai State Chamber Choir Polifonija presented its popular concert project "Let's Travel with Music All Around the Globe" at the Presidential Palace. It was the first performance of the multiligual music programme in Vilnius. President of the Republic of Lithuania Dalia Grybauskaitė attended a concert by winners of the second national competition-festival Perliukai (Little Pearls) of young musicians with disabilities. The concert by talented children, winners of local contests of Vilnius, Kaunas, Šauliai, Alytus, and Klaipėda, took place at the Presidential Palace Sunday afternoon. President of the Republic of Lithuania Dalia Grybauskaitė visited a Christmas Charity Fair organized in the Courtyard of the Presidential Palace by non-governmental organizations, to buy Christmas souvenirs hand-made by disabled persons and to invite all people of the country to help make Christmas more beautiful for those who cannot do this themselves. |
