Public Events at the Presidential Palace

Sunday evening, the Column Hall of the Presidential Palace was open for everybody wishing to see an improvisation performance Atviras ratas (Open Circle) staged by the theatre laboratory Atviras Ratas (director Aidas Giniotis). The performance is a collection of actors’ own autobiographic stories and improvisations.

Sunday afternoon, young musicians from Kaunas gave a concert in the Column Hall of the Presidential Palace. Vilnius residents and visitors had an opportunity to come to the Presidential Palace to listen to music played by pupils of the Juozas Naujalis Music Gymnasium, Kaunas, and the Juozas Gruodis Conservatory, Kaunas, which celebrates its 90th anniversary this year.

This Sunday saw the start of the new season of public events at the Presidential Palace. Local people and visitors were offered the opportunity to come and take a look around the Courtyard of the Presidential Palace, a piece of architectural heritage, and watch a concert there.

On the eve of the International Children’s Day, the Courtyard of the Presidential Palace was opened to children, who watched a stage performance “The Recluse Ant” by the Panevėžys Puppet Wagon Theatre there.

A lecture-concert entitled “History of Old Vilnius” was presented Sunday afternoon in the Column Hall of the Presidential Palace. Jonas Satkūnas, Doctor of Natural Sciences, spoke about the specific landscape features that influenced the siting of Vilnius castles and the rise of the city in this area.

A concert – Spring Music and Poetry – was held at the Presidential Palace on Palm Sunday. City residents and guests had the opportunity to enjoy the performance of Jūratė Vizbaraitė (soprano), Viltė Gineitytė (student of Choral Singing School Liepaitės), Marta Lukošiūtė (soprano), and Tadas Girininkas (bass). The accompaniment was by Aleksandras Vizbaras.

The Column Hall of the Presidential Palace hosted a concert of young music talents, international competition laureates. Last week, President Dalia Grybauskaitė congratulated the international prize winners, wishing them to perform at the most famed Lithuanian and world stages, to foster and develop their talent and to bring forth distinctive new interpretations to life for the enjoyment of music lovers.

A family afternoon was held at the Column Hall of the Presidential Palace. Janina Gudzinevičiūtė and Irmantas Jankaitis from the Vilnius Lėlė Puppet Theater performed “The Tale of the Turtle” by Žanis Griva. The children’s ensemble Reketukas (leader Irena Strazdienė) from the Vilnius Techers’ Community Center, which sings and dances Lithuanian folkfore, mostly from the ethnic regions of Dzūkija and Aukštaitija, staged a special concert.

On Sunday, a folk music event "Christmas is Here!" was held in the Column Hall of the Presidential Palace.

A music and self-education event for the elderly was held at the Column Hall in the Presidential Palace. Among the performers were young talents from the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theater: the Chamber Music String Quartet led by Professor Audronė Vainiūnaitė, Raimondas Sviackevičius’ accordion class students and St. Johns’ Church Gospel Choir “Sounds in G” (conductor and artistic leader Kristina Žaldokaitė). The students of the Music Academy and the Vilnius Conservatoire performed music of different styles and periods, ranging from early 19th century to the end of 20th century.
