Dalia Grybauskaitė met with Ukrainian and Georgian leaders in Davos

Thursday, January 22, Davos, Switzerland - President Dalia Grybauskaitė met with Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko and Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili to discuss regional security issues and the progress their countries have made in implementing European reforms.

Dalia Grybauskaitė and Petro Poroshenko exchanged views on the deteriorating security situation in eastern Ukraine, including intensified military action in which civilians are killed despite efforts to reach political agreement.

During bilateral meetings, the President also noted that the changing security situation in Europe and ongoing geopolitical processes should not delay the implementation of structural reforms in these countries.

The Lithuanian President and Georgian Prime Minister reviewed EU visa liberalization issues, implementation of the provisions of association and free trade agreements, and preparations for the upcoming Eastern Partnership summit in Riga this May.

Lithuania supports the European choice of Ukrainian and Georgian people and stands ready to offer expert assistance on issues of implementation of reforms.
