President Dalia Grybauskaitė leads the annual rating "Top-10 Ukraine's Promoters in the World 2014" presented by the Institute of World Policy. Among the other influential European and world political figures included into this year's top ten for advocating and promoting the interests of Ukraine are former Swedish Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Carl Bildt, German Chancellor Angela Merkel, Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko, U.S. Vice President Joe Biden, and Senator John McCain.
President Dalia Grybauskaitė accepted letters of credence from the Ambassador of the United Republic of Tanzania, Dora Mmari Msechu. The President and the Ambassador discussed the importance of cooperation in international organizations. The President noted that Lithuania valued Tanzania's role in UN peacekeeping missions, in particular in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Darfur and Lebanon.
President Dalia Grybauskaitė met with the President of the Lutheran World Federation, Bishop Munib A. Younan, who is on his first visit to Lithuania.
President Dalia Grybauskaitė attended commemoration of the 70th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz. The President together with other European and world leaders and representatives of international organizations paid tribute to those who were killed at this Nazi concentration camp and to all victims of the Holocaust. "Millions of lives lost in death camps remind us that cynical indifference opens the way for violence and aggression. Therefore, it is our duty and responsibility not to allow the darkest chapters of history to be repeated. We cannot remain indifferent to what has occurred and what is happening today," the President said.
President Dalia Grybauskaitė expressed sincere condolences, on behalf of the Lithuanian people and on her own behalf, over the plane crash during NATO's exercise in Albacete, Spain. The President offered her deep sympathy to the loved ones of those who lost their lives and wished a speedy recovery to the injured.
