The President congratulated India on national day

Monday, January 26, Vilnius - President Dalia Grybauskaitė extended congratulations, both personally and on behalf of the Lithuanian people, to President Pranab Mukherjee of India on Republic Day.

The adoption and entry into force of the Constitution of India more than six decades ago marked a decisive step towards the establishment of liberty, democracy and the rule of law.

"I strongly hope that these values shared by our both countries will serve as a basis for the further development of close bilateral dialogue and intensive cooperation in launching even more business, cultural and public initiatives," the President wrote in her message of congratulations.

The President expressed her belief that India would continue to effectively contribute to safeguarding peace and stability in the region and the world in the face of increasing global challenges to the security and well-being of people.
